Forensic Psychologist in Phoenix, AZ

After earning my Ph.D. in child and adult clinical psychology at the University of Minnesota in 1978 and becoming a licensed psychologist in Minnesota two years later, I established a practice which included both therapy with children, adolescents, and adults and custody and personal injury evaluations. I also engaged in research on children's sexual behaviors and was an instructor for various undergraduate and graduate courses at the Institute of Child Development at the University of Minnesota. In 2006 I chose to limit my work to forensic matters. I take pride in following assessment protocols that adhere to the best standard of practice and basing my opinions on empirical research findings. In January 2017 I also became licensed in Arizona where I moved my practice later that year.

My review article on sexual trauma and resilience was published in the journal, Psychological Injury and Law in 2012. More recently in March 2021 Making the case for victims, privacy in civil sexual abuse lawsuits was published in the same journal. I have given presentations in the U.S. on topics including the impact of sexual abuse and other trauma, conducting forensic interviews with children, and ethical practices for child psychologists. My most recent talks were at the Latin American Congress on Sexuality in Medellín, Colombia in 2012 on how child pornography affects victims and at the World Association on Sexual Health Congress in Porto Alegre, Brazil in 2013 on the impact of sexual abuse by clergy on victims' psychological and spiritual health.

Currently, I am a member of the national leadership council for the Institute for Sexual and Gender Health at the University of Minnesota Medical School. I served as a member of the Child-Focused Parenting Time Guide Workgroup that revised the information offered by the Minnesota Supreme Court for parents and professionals. I have been active with the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts at the state and national levels. Combined with my knowledge of cutting-edge scholarship, I believe that all of these involvements strengthen my expertise as a forensic psychologist.
